Top 5 Bathroom Design Trends in 2024

As we step into 2024, the world of bathroom design continues to evolve, blending functionality with aesthetics to create spaces that are both luxurious and practical. Whether you're planning a complete bathroom remodel or a simple refresh, staying abreast of the latest trends can help you transform your space into a haven of relaxation and style. Let's explore some of the top trends shaping bathroom design in 2024:

1. Bold Colors and Patterns:

While neutral tones have long been favored in bathroom design for their timeless appeal, bold colors and patterns are making a bold comeback in 2024. From vibrant accent walls and geometric tile patterns to eye-catching wallpaper and colorful fixtures, adding pops of color and personality can infuse your bathroom with energy and style. Whether you opt for a daring color scheme or subtle hints of pattern, don't be afraid to let your creativity shine.

Pictured to the right is a shower enclosure that Marc had done that definitely fits bold, but also timeless.

The customer was kind of enough to leave a review that stated:

Marc and his brother John were absolutely amazing. They redid my master shower and the results were better than I could have imagined! It’s now my favorite place in the house! “

3. Textural Tiles:

From intricate mosaic patterns to tactile 3D tiles, textural tiles are making a statement in bathroom design in 2024. Whether used as a feature wall, backsplash, or flooring, textured tiles add depth, dimension, and visual interest to the space, creating a dynamic and immersive experience. If you’re not too big on colors, going all white design while adding texture can bring a surprising amount of depth due to its overlapping, textured tile.

This design that Marc did is similar to the minimalist design that I talked about in the previous example. However, in this case you can see that the texture is quite different and it’s also an open concept instead of a traditional tub/shower combo.

If you’re someone that likes to sit in the shower, then you should absolutely discuss with your contractor to add a bench like in this design. It’s very easy to compliment the bench with a shelf as well.

The options are quite limitless when it comes to bathroom design.

Get creative!

5. Contrast Colors & Finishes:

Contrasting colors in shower and bath installations have become increasingly popular for those seeking to make a bold design statement in their bathrooms. Pairing matte and shiny finishes creates a striking visual contrast that adds depth and dimension to the space. This juxtaposition of textures not only creates visual interest but also enhances the overall aesthetic appeal of the bathroom. For example, combining matte black tiles with glossy white fixtures can create a dramatic and sophisticated look, while contrasting dark and light colors can add a sense of balance and harmony to the space. Furthermore, the interplay between matte and shiny surfaces adds a tactile element to the design, inviting touch and further engaging the senses. Whether you opt for subtle contrasts or more daring combinations, incorporating contrasting colors and finishes into your shower and bath design can elevate the look of your bathroom and imbue it with a sense of style and sophistication.

Personally, this is one of my favorites that Marc has done. The idea behind the contrasting colors along with corresponding finishes is super sleek. This last one essentially includes all the aspects of the previous mentioned designs, for one mega popular design. So pick one or pick all, the design is your oyster!

Oh, and not to mention that not only can you sit in this shower, but you can also lay down!

2. Minimalist and Multifunctional Storage: With urban living spaces becoming increasingly compact, efficient storage solutions are more important than ever. Minimalist design principles emphasize clean lines and streamlined storage solutions to maximize space and create a sense organization.

The example on left is a simple design that Marc executed perfectly. It checked all the boxes the client was looking for, and they were left one happy customer!

There are multiple ways to add different types of accents to your design. In this case, the client decided to add a shelf within the wall to hold and shower accessories. It was done with a darker shade of small hex tiles.

There is no need to set anything down on the tub and take up space. Instead, a simple indentation in the wall is great solution.

Simple, but effective.

4. Subway tile:

Subway tile has emerged as a timeless and versatile choice for shower and bath installations, capturing the essence of classic elegance with a modern twist. Its simple yet sophisticated appearance lends a sense of understated charm to any bathroom space, making it a favorite among homeowners and designers alike. The clean lines and uniform shape of subway tiles create a sleek and cohesive look that can complement a wide range of design styles, from traditional to contemporary. Whether used as a backsplash, shower surround, or full wall covering, subway tile adds a touch of refinement and character to the bathroom, enhancing its visual appeal and elevating its overall aesthetic. Additionally, subway tile's durability, ease of maintenance, and affordability make it a practical choice for high-traffic areas such as showers and baths, ensuring both style and functionality for years to come.

Again, like stated with the last two, this design included a bench for being able to sit during a shower and a shelf for easy storage.

The subway tile design has grown significantly over the years and has been deemed a safe route for a clean and simple design.

So in conclusion, the world of bathroom design in 2024 is characterized by a blend of sustainability, technology, luxury, and wellness. By incorporating these top trends into your bathroom remodel, you can create a space that not only reflects your personal style but also enhances your quality of life for years to come. Embrace the future of bathroom design and transform your space into a sanctuary of style and serenity.
